Going, going, gone...

This is our back gate which leads out to a quiet street.

The photo below shows the house 3rd from ours, in that street; note there are some workmen on the roof...

two days later and what do you see?....
The tiles of the roof are all gone and so are all the weatherboards...

We're starting to notice all the trucks that come up the street to the house....

Trucks that carry away building rubble. Trucks that bring earth-moving equipment and trucks that bring skips.

There is a sign on the site warning of asbestos...some of the trucks are taking this rubble somewhere different for disposal. The residents hope that all the protocols and precautions for dealing with asbestos removal  have been followed. This slows down work a bit...

Going...going....

The following photos I took last Sunday, after the workmen had spent most of Saturday at the site.

Going...going...GONE!

This photo shows what a large area the former house was on.

I don't know what will be built on this site; possibly a number of townhouses like 2 doors up from this site. So for the next few months we'll have trucks, dust and noise....as our suburb progresses! The last photo is one few we have which won't be built out...it's the view we get when we walk down the middle of the street. It shows the range to the west of Brisbane's northern suburbs and in particular Mount Glorious.

Nice to have a record of what your street used to look like..in a couple of months you will look at the new building and will hardly remember the old!

It's tough for you, the next few months will be loud.
I used to walk My Glorious, and Mt Nebo when i lived at Toowong. I'll bet i wouldn't recognise the place now.

Urbanization is too costly that everybody or every creature imposed by!
Hope you can save your habitat as it is!

Hugs and kisses!

Progress...and dust. They seem to go together. I hope your new neighboring place is nice.

Hi Maria,it's so sad,it's happening everywhere. The lovely little old cottage next door to us sold to a young couple and within 2 years they bulldozed it and built an ugly plain new home. They are never home so I don't know why. It seems to be the trend. There will be no more big back yards with lovely gardens.
Thank you for visiting me and for your nice comments. x
